Charitable Work

Our social impact

We are a small startup commercial farm in pre-revenue phase. However, we try to make as much of a positive social impact as possible. Whenever we require labour or contractors we try to find them from the neighbouring communities. Work is scarce in rural communities, and many people are without permanent work. Anything we can do to help makes a difference. We specifically focus on our family and our extended relationships across the immediate indigenous communities. This approach fulfils one of our goals when we moved to Ecuador. We wanted to make a positive difference.

Ecuador has a high adult literacy rate of 93.95%. This means that a large majority of people aged 15 and older can read and write. While the overall rate is high, studies show that literacy and numeracy levels in Ecuador are below the OECD average.

Actions not words

When we are able to make a difference we do it on a very personal level. The efforts we make are done on a "direct action" basis, as and when needed. Directly to the recipient in need. Most of the time these efforts help the most needy people in our community. In some cases they are driven by deeply personal incidents and are very traumatic to those involved, and so we do not actually know who the recipients of our help are. This is how we intend to go forward helping our community. There is no disclosure, social media presence, or promotion of these efforts. They are based on our dedication to our community. Simple, honest, direct, impactful, and meaningful. No need for receipts or tax deductions. No need for a thank you. We know our help is appreciated.

In 2023, 26% of Ecuadorians lived in poverty, with 4.72% experiencing multidimensional poverty. Rural areas have higher poverty rates, with 46% of the population living in poverty, including 22.6% in extreme poverty. These figures highlight the significant challenges Ecuador faces in poverty reduction, exacerbated by factors like natural disasters and rising insecurity linked to drug trafficking.
